Allergic Contact Dermatitis Due to Methacrylates Present in Adhesive Tape - Rhinoplasty Cases in Clinica Estrella
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Contact dermatitis is an inflammatory response of the skin, which occurs as a result of contact with allergens or irritating substances. Acrylates are chemical molecules used for the production of plastic materials. Objective: To know the effect of methacrylates in patients exposed to Micropore after rhinoplasty. Materials and Methods: Follow-up was carried out on 5 patients who had undergone aesthetic rhinoplasty surgery at Clínica Estrella, using the closed Joseph technique. Results: At the time of removing the nasal splint and adhesive tape on the previously mentioned post-surgical days, each patient presented erythema, loss of localized epidermis, and ulceration with irregular edges. Conclusions: The methacrylates present in the adhesive tape can trigger allergic contact dermatitis.
