Abstract

This research analyzed organizational resilience and knowledge absorptive capacity (KAC) in Mexican small and medium-sized shrimp farming enterprises (SMEs). The objective was to characterize resilience profiles and determine the factors that explain them. A quantitative, exploratory, and correlational approach was adopted, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. A validated questionnaire was administered to 70 production units located in Ahome, Sinaloa. Cluster analysis (Ward and k-means) identified four typologies: comprehensive resilience, low structural resilience, knowledge-based resilience, and reactive adaptive resilience. A binary logistic regression model showed that the exploitation and acquisition dimensions of KAC are significant predictors of a high level of resilience. The findings show that strengthening the capacity to capture and apply knowledge is an essential strategy for ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of aquaculture SMEs.
