Citizen environmental culture as a predictor of sustainable development

Abstract
The main objective of the research is to design a proposal to strengthen the citizen environmental culture to promote sustainable development in the Chongón parish, Guayaquil canton, since the problems that its citizens have been recognized. The established methodology was the basic quantitative approach; the sample corresponded to 248 inhabitants of the sector, using the survey technique validated by experts. Among the results obtained in the investigation, the sustainable development variable showed results categorized as 59.6% at the medium level and 26.8% at the low level. When reviewing the results of its indicators and characteristics in detail, the environmental, economic dimension, and the sustainable economy indicator turned out to be the most neglected. After socialization about the ecological impact, it is expected to promote sustainable development and recover Environmentalism in the parish, among other aspects, since the environmental situation requires comprehensive analysis.
